When mg and mL Appear on the Same Box, and Why That Means Two Different Things

A skin booster box that reads 100mg Powder x 5 Vials + 6mL Solvent x 5 Vials contains ten containers. A box that reads 50mg, 2mL x 1 Syringe contains one. Both print a milligram figure beside a millilitre figure, and in the first case those numbers describe two separate objects while in the second they describe two properties of the same object. Across 69 active boosters in our catalogue, the only thing that reliably separates the two readings is whether the word Powder appears, and eleven of the fifteen milligram products do not print it.

Sixty-nine boosters, and what the box actually declares

We swept every active product in our skin boosters and ampoules collection on 27 August 2026, reading form factor, unit and package count out of the product name. Thirty-seven declare vials, 22 declare syringes, three declare a powder together with a solvent, one declares a powder alone, one declares ampoules, and five declare no container at all.

The unit split runs differently from the container split. Fifty products declare millilitres, 15 declare milligrams, two declare cc, and six declare no quantity. That milligram group is the one this piece is about, because a milligram is a mass and a booster is something that arrives as a liquid or becomes one, so a mass figure is always describing an intermediate state rather than what ends up in the syringe.

Package counts spread wider than either. Twenty-four products come as a single unit, 19 come in fives, five come in tens, five in threes, five in twos, three in sixes, one in sevens, and seven declare no count. So a booster order line without a package figure is genuinely ambiguous across an order of magnitude, and the figure that resolves it sits in the product name for 62 of 69 products and nowhere at all for the other seven.

One framing note before the numbers go further. This is our catalogue rather than a survey of the Korean booster market, and a different distributor with a different product mix would produce different proportions. Sixty-nine products is a real sample and the patterns hold consistently across it, but the value here is that this is the surface a buyer actually reads: product names in a list, which is where quotes and price sheets are built from. Whatever the market-wide distribution is, the reading habit this catalogue rewards is the one that matters at the point of ordering.

A related reading of the filler catalogue found the same fragmentation on a different axis, where 31 of 49 products declared no volume at all and the rest split across three units. The question here is narrower and comes one step later: when two units appear together on the same box, what is the relationship between them.

Boosters name their quantities, and fillers mostly do not

Put the two catalogue sweeps side by side and they behave in opposite ways. Among 49 active fillers, 31 declare no quantity in the product name at all, offering a line designation such as Fine, Deep or Sub-Q instead. Among 69 active boosters, only six declare no quantity. Sixty-three percent silence on one shelf, nine percent on the other.

The reason is that the two categories carry different information in their names because different things distinguish their members. Within a filler family the products differ mainly by rheology and intended placement depth, and volume is frequently identical across the whole family, so the name uses the property that actually separates them. Within a booster range the products differ by active and by presentation, and quantity is one of the things that genuinely varies, so the name carries it.

This matters for anyone building a structured record from catalogue text, which in practice means anyone maintaining a price list. A booster sheet assembled from product names will be close to complete on quantity and will need the container confirmed. A filler sheet assembled the same way will be missing quantity for two thirds of its lines while looking perfectly tidy, because a name like REVOLAX SUB-Q does not read as incomplete. The two shelves need different intake habits, and applying one habit to both produces gaps exactly where they are hardest to notice.

It also explains why the ambiguity described in this article concentrates where it does. Boosters print numbers, so booster names invite arithmetic, and arithmetic performed on two numbers whose relationship is unstated is where the error enters. The filler problem is missing data, which announces itself. The booster problem is present data that means two things, which does not.

The same milligram figure describes two different things

Fifteen products declare milligrams. Four of them print the word Powder: ExoLume at 100mg, PLAXOM at 200mg, NAD+ Luma at 100mg and Caratfill PDLLA Powder at 200mg. For those four the milligram figure is unambiguous. It is the mass of solid in the vial before anything is added to it.

The other eleven print a milligram figure with no such word. OLIDIA declares PLLA 365mg in one vial, CURENEX Sculp declares 360mg in one vial, PLLACELL declares 100mg, POLYDIO declares PDO 300mg, MENNUS declares PLA 200mg. Read alongside the four above, the natural assumption is that these are powders too, and for most of them that assumption happens to be right, since biostimulator materials of this kind are typically supplied lyophilised.

Then there is HYALMASS 50mg, which declares 2mL in one syringe, and Elravie Re2O, which declares 150mg in one syringe. A syringe holding a stated volume is not a powder. In those two the milligram figure is not a mass of solid awaiting reconstitution; it is the quantity of active present inside a liquid that is already made up. Same unit, same position on the box, entirely different referent.

That is the trap in compact form. A buyer who has learned that mg means powder from four products will read the fifth wrongly, and nothing in the product name corrects them. The word Powder is doing all the work and it is absent from 11 of 15 cases. The reliable move is to treat a milligram figure as underspecified until the container is confirmed, because mass tells you how much of something there is and says nothing about whether it is currently wet.

A milligram figure usually means a biostimulator sitting on the booster shelf

Look at what the eleven milligram products without the word Powder actually are and a second pattern appears. OLIDIA declares PLLA 365mg. MENNUS declares PLA 200mg and MENNUS PLUS declares PLA 360mg. PLLACELL declares 100mg. POLYDIO declares PDO 300mg. Caratfill declares PDLLA. AESTHE FILL declares 200mg. CURENEX Sculp declares 360mg of poly-L-lactic acid.

These are polymer biostimulator materials, and they are filed and discussed as a different family from hyaluronic acid or nucleotide boosters even though the storefront shelves them together. The milligram declaration is one of the visible markers of that family, because a polymer supplied as particles is quantified by mass rather than by the volume of a solution that does not yet exist.

So the practical inference runs in a useful direction. A milligram figure on a booster line is a strong signal that the product belongs to the biostimulator family, which carries its own considerations for storage, presentation and how it is discussed. It is not a certain signal, and the two syringe products with milligram declarations are precisely the exceptions, but as a first-pass sort it separates the shelf more cleanly than the collection name does.

That the storefront groups them together is not an error either. Collections are organised by what a customer is shopping for rather than by material family, and a buyer browsing boosters has good reason to see biostimulators in the same view. Powder plus solvent is two products in one box

Three products in the sweep declare a powder together with a solvent, and their naming shows how much structure a single product line can carry. ExoLume supplies 100mg of powder across five vials and 6mL of solvent across five more. NAD+ Luma follows the same pattern with 100mg and 6mL. PLAXOM declares 200mg of powder with 6mL of solution across three sets, using the word sets rather than vials to signal pairing.

What matters commercially is that these boxes hold two different things that were licensed, packed and shipped as a unit. The powder and the solvent are not interchangeable with generic equivalents, and a shipment short of one component is not a partial shipment of one product but a broken pair. Receiving checks that count units rather than component types will pass a box that is missing half of what makes it usable.

The pairing convention itself differs between the three, which is a small thing that matters when a record is being built. ExoLume and NAD+ Luma both express the pairing as two counted groups, five powder vials and five solvent vials. PLAXOM expresses it as three sets, folding the pairing into a single count so that the word set is carrying the structure. A parser reading these names for a package count will produce five for the first two and three for the third, and those numbers are not comparable without knowing what is being counted.

The naming also carries a quiet asymmetry worth noticing. The milligram figure describes each powder vial individually, while the millilitre figure describes each solvent vial individually, and neither figure describes the box. A purchase line reading ExoLume 100mg has named the per vial mass and left the package structure unstated, which for this product means leaving out that there are ten containers rather than one. For products of this kind the package count is not a detail attached to the quantity, it is part of the quantity.

Vials outnumber syringes, and the package counts follow

Thirty-seven of 69 boosters declare vials against 22 declaring syringes, and that ratio propagates into the package figures in a way that makes the catalogue easier to read once you see it.

Single unit products number 24, and they cluster among the syringe presentations and the single vial biostimulators. Five unit packs number 19 and are overwhelmingly vial products. Ten unit packs number five and are vials without exception in this sweep. The pattern is intuitive in retrospect: a prefilled syringe is a self contained item that is sold as one, while a vial is a format that lends itself to multi unit packs.

The correlation is strong enough to be useful and weak enough to be dangerous as a shortcut. Seven products state no package count at all, and among the vial products the counts run from one to ten, so knowing a product is a vial narrows the range without determining it. Anyone building a per unit price comparison from a quote needs the count as a stated figure rather than as an inference from format, and it is the single most common missing field in a booster quotation.

There is also a small group where the container itself is unstated. What to confirm on a booster line before it becomes an order

Four fields resolve almost every ambiguity described above, and a product name typically supplies two or three of them. Asking for the missing ones takes one sentence and removes the entire class of error.

Confirm the container type, because it determines whether a milligram figure is a mass awaiting reconstitution or an active content already in solution. Confirm the package count, since it varies from one to ten across this catalogue and is absent from seven product names. Confirm whether a solvent is included and packed separately, because for three products in this sweep the box holds two container types and a count of one component does not describe the shipment. And confirm which figure the price attaches to, per unit or per package, which is where most quote disputes actually originate.

The fourth of those, which figure the price attaches to, deserves its own sentence because it is where the other three converge. A price quoted against ExoLume without specifying whether it is per powder vial, per matched pair or per box of ten containers is not a price. A price quoted against a single syringe product is unambiguous by construction. So the same quotation format carries different amounts of risk depending on which shelf the product came from, and the products that need the most specification are exactly the ones whose names look most detailed.

None of that requires special access or a technical exchange. It is the same information a distributor already holds, asked in a form that leaves no room for two readings. The reason to make it a habit rather than an occasional check is that the ambiguities are not evenly distributed: they concentrate in exactly the products where the numbers look most precise, because a box printing both mg and mL feels more specified than one printing neither.
